Fresh off winning a Grammy award and making history in the process, it’s safe to say Cardi B’s rate has exponentially (and deservedly) gone up.
However, as exemplified by his on-brand social media, one potential collaborator in particular has made it known that he’s willing to do whatever it takes to secure a guest feature from the Bronx native on his new album.
Taking to Instagram on Tuesday (Feb. 12), DJ Khaled bigged up Cardi in one of his signature motivational posts, while revealing that she’s set to appear on his next project.
“They said I couldn’t get Cardi B on my album,” he began, as he filmed himself in selfie-mode.
Cardi then steps in by saying, “Who the f—k said that? This is right after the Grammys.”
Khaled then responded, “They said ’cause you won a Grammy, I can’t get you on my album.”
Once again, the beloved DJ and producer has proved the haters wrong. While no song title or official release date has yet been confirmed, it’s safe to say Cardi B will be among the guest features on Khaled’s upcoming album, Father of Asahd. The project, which was initially due for release in 2018, will be out sometime this year.
After becoming the first female solo artist to win the Best Rap Album Grammy at this year’s ceremony — where she also performed live — Cardi B decided to delete her Instagram due to receiving an onslaught of backlash. Hopefully, with the encouragement of Khaled, she’s feeling inspired for what her career’s next chapter holds.
Khaled has previously teased upcoming collaborations with the likes of Drake, Bryson Tiller, Meek Mill, Travis Scott and Post Malone, among others. The project will mark his eleventh studio album and his first since 2017’s Grateful.
