NBA YoungBoy, also known as YoungBoy Never Broke Again, has been arrested in Atlanta, according to TMZ.
On Monday (Feb. 11), the 19-year-old rapper was booked for three misdemeanors including possession of weed, use of fighting words and physical obstruction with another, TMZ reports. Law enforcement sources claim YoungBoy had less than an ounce of marijuana on him at the time of his arrest.
According to the police report, the “Outside Today” rapper was hanging out in a hotel room with a woman named Starr Thigpen when an altercation broke out. Police are alleging the room “was supposed to be unoccupied” at the time YoungBoy and Thigpen were there and did not react well to being asked to leave. Thigpen allegedly struck a housekeeper in the face and a fight reportedly “spilled out into the hallway” of the hotel.
YoungBoy and Thigpen were arrested after the housekeeper broke free and was able to call the police. Both were released on bond on Tuesday morning.
This isn’t the rapper’s first run-in with the law. In February 2018, YoungBoy was arrested in Tallahassee, FL over an outstanding kidnapping warrant. He was released on $75k bond and later charged with kidnapping and aggravated assault by a grand jury stemming from another hotel incident involving his then-girlfriend.
TMZ released shocking footage from the alleged assault which reportedly shows YoungBoy body slamming a woman on to the ground and dragging her into a hotel room. His girlfriend did not want to press charges and told the jury the two were just engaging in “horseplay” on the video.
In November 2016, YoungBoy (real name Kentrell Gaulden) was arrested by U.S. Marshals in Texas for allegedly opening fire on a group of people in a drive-by shooting in Louisiana. He spent eight months in jail for attempted first-degree murder. On Aug. 23, 2017, a judge sentenced him to a suspended 10-year prison term and three years probation.
No word yet on when YoungBoy (or Thigpen) is due back in court over the most recent allegations.
