Nicki Minaj will no longer be performing at the BET Experience this summer.

The Queens native made the announcement on Twitter yesterday (Feb. 11) after a BET staff member took a dig at her on the platform following Cardi B’s historic win at the Grammys this weekend.

The since-deleted BET tweet highlighted Cardi’s Grammy achievement and insinuated that Minaj was “being dragged by her lacefront,” by Cardi fans who were celebrating the “Money” rapper. Minaj shared a screenshot of the diss along with reactions from her fans calling out the network for its poor judgment.

“Do I get a refund?! I already got my BET Experience tix,” one fan asked the “Barbie Dreams” rapper in the wake of Young Money pulling out of the event. “Absolutely. Get your refund ASAP,” Minaj replied.

Minaj also took note of the irony of the situation which resulted in BET being bombarded with comments from her fans demanding an apology. “Meanwhile, BET is being dragged by their lace front,” she tweeted along with screenshots. “Who said ‘we were sick of watching Baby Boy anyway'[?]” she joked.

It didn’t take long for BET to address the sticky situation. The network issued a statement apologizing to Minaj over the “unauthorized” tweet. “BET loves Nicki Minaj. We have supported her from the very beginning of her career and will continue to do so moving forward. Nicki has paved the way for so many performers and has solidified her place as one of the most powerful figures in the music industry,” the network wrote.

“Unfortunately the respect we have for Nicki was violated by this post that should never have been written. The post does not reflect how we feel about Nicki. And further does not reflect our company values. We deeply apologize for the hurt, disappointment and confusion that this post has caused. We are committed to doing everything we can to address the situation.”

BET went on to assure Minaj and her fans, also known as the Barbz, that it was conducting an internal audit to “assure these types of posts are not published again.” The network ended its statement writing, “We understand Nicki’s position and look forward to continuing our dialogue with her. Finally, we apologize to all of her fans. This should have never happened.”

Although Minaj and Cardi have had their beef in the past, including the now-infamous brawl that went down at New York Fashion Week last September, Cardi also weighed in on the BET diss in an Instagram video post. “It’s not my style for people to put other people down to uplift somebody else,” the Grammy-winner said. “I don’t support that.”

Maybe there can be a truce between the two rappers after all.
