Ariana Grande had a lot to say about the 61st Grammy Awards. Although the “Thank U, Next” singer decided to skip the show following reported production issues, she did take time out to live tweet during the ceremony. The night started out with a major win for Grande who took home her first ever Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album for her 2018 LP, Sweetener.

“i know i’m not there tonight (trust, i tried and still truly wished it had worked out tbh) and i know i said i try not to put too much weight into these things …. but fuck ……. 🥺 this is wild and beautiful. thank you so much,” she tweeted. The 25-year-old went on to thank all those involved in the project.

Grande also thanked her fans, calling them her “main source of joy and inspiration always,” and shared photos of what appears to be her Grammy look that never happened since she didn’t get to walk the red carpet.

The pop star didn’t stop there. She continued to tweet throughout the evening and praised Janelle Monáe’s electrifying Grammy performance. “so good so good so fuckin real @JanelleMonae,” she wrote. Later that night, Grande found herself deleting tweets after Cardi B made history winning Best Rap Album.

“trash.” she tweeted then deleted, followed up by “literal bullshit.” Her tweets were screenshot by many who questioned whether Grande was referring Cardi in her statements. As it turns out, Grande was upset that the late rapper Mac Miller, and her former boyfriend, lost out in the category. “nothing to do [with] her. good for her. i promise. i’m sorry.” she tweeted, clarifying her subtweets. When one fan replied calling Cardi “trash,” Grande responded, “she’s not at all and that’s not what [I] meant and u know that.”

Mac Miller passed away on Sept. 7, 2018, at the age of 26. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office ruled his cause of death an accidental drug overdose. Grande and Miller dated from August 2016 until May 2018.

Cardi addressed Miller in an Instagram video following her Grammy win. “I read an article that Mac Miller’s family said that if he don’t win, they want me to win so I’m sharing this Grammy with you mother fucker,” she said. “Rest in peace!” Grande reacted to the post with several black heart emojis.
