In the four months that Bill Cosby has been behind bars, he reportedly hasn’t received any visits from family members.

According to spokesman Andrew Wyatt, the decision has not been made in haste. He claims the actor has chosen not to subject his family to the unfortunate reality that he is serving a three-to-10 year term. Bill also feels like parole is in his future.

As previously reported, during a highly publicized retrial, Cosby was convicted by a jury of three counts of felony sex assault stemming from a 2004 incident.

“He doesn’t want to have them in that environment,” Wyatt, who visits regularly, shared in a statement. “Why put them in that position to make it turn into some form of a circus?”

Cosby, who is legally blind, was first placed into special housing to help him acclimate to what has become his life in prison. He has since been moved to the general population of a Pennsylvania state prison, which is said to be about 20 miles from a family estate in the Philadelphia suburbs. Despite the proximity, his representative shared with reporters he doesn’t expect his wife, Camille Cosby, or their daughters to visit him during his time there.

Per Wyatt, the 81-year-old believes he is a “political prisoner,” who was unfairly targeted due to his social and political views much like heroes Martin Luther King Jr. and Nelson Mandela. Additionally, Camille, his wife of over 50 years, continues to strategize on her husband’s behalf.

“He hasn’t stopped thinking about the things that he’s going to do when he gets out,” Wyatt added.

Despite his criminal conviction and dozens of women accusing “The Cosby Show” actor of sexual assault or misconduct over a 50-year span, he continues to maintain his innocence.

According to reports, Cosby believes that parole is within the realm of possibility, which helps support his decision to not have family visits during this time.
