Meek Mill is living his best life now that he has his freedom back. However, while visiting Jamaica, the Philadelphia rapper had a brief encounter with police that was both a reminder of his past legal issues and a relief.

During his time on the tropical island, which was spent partying with locals at the strip club and enjoying Jamaican cuisine with friends, the Philadelphia rapper was pulled over by police. As it turns out, the authorities were more interested in taking a photo with Meek than anything else.

While in Kingston with his team, their car got pulled over and as they were leaving the vehicle, officers stopped them. Meek then began recording their interaction, capturing his surprised reaction when he realized the true reasoning behind the stop.

“You’re trying to take a picture, mon?” Meek asked the cops while laughing. “I’m fucked up! Y’all pulled us over and y’all said y’all want a picture, mon? Y’all scared us! We’re scared of police! We thought we were getting locked up!”

Given Meek’s personal experiences with the criminal justice, his gut reaction to be nervous at first is a rational one. The rapper’s own history with the system even inspired the Pennsylvania Senate to pass a bill in an attempt to limit how long a person can remain on probation after completing their prison sentence.

In addition to advocating for criminal justice reform since his own release from prison last year, Meek has recently announced a new organization dedicated to continuing his efforts at a higher level. The organization named the Reform Alliance was created in partnership alongside JAY-Z, Philadelphia 76ers co-owner Michael Rubin, commentator Van Jones and more. Collectively, the group has pledged $50 million to launch the initiative.
