J. Cole made his celebrated return earlier this week by dropping his new single “Middle Child.”
The track, which was produced by T-Minus, soon became consumed by hip hop fans across the board. It even garnered the attention of Cardi B.
Late Thursday (Jan. 24) night, the Bronx rapper took to Twitter to big up the Dreamville co-founder’s latest by saying that it is “too spicy.” Given that Bardi’s career continues to reach colossal new heights with each passing day, her co-sign is consistently growing in value.
Her kind words didn’t go under-appreciated by Cole, who soon took to social media to respond.
On Twitter, the KOD rapper began his tweet with a heart emoji. He wrote, “This made my whole week to keep it a buck.”
The simple exchange soon resulted in fans swarming in the mentions of both rappers and calling for the pair to collaborate. While neither artist has not yet publicly entertained the idea of hopping in the studio together, the prospect of a joint track was enough to inspire fans to begin manifesting it on social media.
Both J. Cole and Cardi are expected to release new music this year. Cardi recently hinted at the idea of dropping her follow-up to 2018’s Invasion of Privacy sometime this spring, whereas Cole is reportedly busy at work on what will become his sixth studio album. Additionally, the Dreamville roster recently called upon a select number of collaborators to participate on the highly anticipated compilation album, Revenge of the Dreamers III.
While a release date for neither projects has been confirmed, Cole’s manager has been keeping fans updated. Ibrahim Hamad commented on the post-production process on Twitter by recently saying he put at least 124 “songs [and] ideas” into a playlist last week “and that’s not even every song on the hard drive yet.”
