J. Cole fans have a lot to celebrate so far this year and it’s not even February yet.

First, the rapper kicked off 2019 by pulling off a remarkable 10-day recording session with countless producers — from his Dreamville family and beyond — to create the label’s third compilation release, Revenge of the Dreamers III. Next, Cole dropped his latest single, “Middle Child.” Now, yet another announcement is in store.

After dropping his latest track on Wednesday (Jan. 23) night and getting an almost-instant viral response from it, speculation grew about the single. Many wondered if it would be attached to a larger project.

In a press release sharing the song with news outlets, Dreamville confirmed that Cole is “currently in the studio working on completing his sixth studio album.” While additional details like a prospective title or a release date have not yet been shared, news that his follow-up to 2018’s K.O.D. is on the way was enough to send his devout fans into a frenzy.

In his new single, which was produced by T-Minus, Cole spits, “I studied the greats, I’m the greatest right now.” Many fans are taking the line in stride and are already believing that his next album will be his best to date. Perhaps it’ll be the latest in his discography to go platinum without features. But, in the meantime, confirmation that Cole is in album mode will suffice for the time being.

Fans are also still anticipating a release date for Revenge of the Dreams III. The project, however, is a step closer to its release. According to J. Cole, himself, the next step is to finish the tracks and “let the world feel ’em.”

In the elusive (and exclusive) sessions in Atlanta; artists such as DJ Khaled, Rick Ross, T.I., Tay Keith, Curren$y, Vince Staples, Young Nudy, Wale and more were spotted in the studio.

Between his forthcoming solo effort and the label’s compilation, Dreamville is claiming 2019 to be theirs for the taking.
