Following the airing of Lifetime’s “Surviving R. Kelly” docuseries, R. Kelly is doing his best to proceed with his day-to-day as normal. However, given the magnitude of the legacy-damaging allegations he’s facing, this may become increasingly difficult for the singer.

Despite the controversy that surrounds him, Kelly chose to celebrate his birthday this week, hitting the V75 club in Chicago in honor of turning 52 the day prior. However, the evening did not go as swimmingly as the singer may have anticipated.

In addition to catering to the crowd with a rendition of “Bump N’ Grind” and boldly making statements such as, “I don’t give a f—k about what’s going on,” the singer’s party was interrupted by police.

As reported, the police dispatcher put a call out to Chicago PD units telling them where to locate the singer due to a warrant out for his arrest. Per TMZ, police showed up at the club and approached the singer. Soon thereafter, authorities realized that the warrant in question was actually the result of a false report.

It remains unclear if the original call was the result of a prank or if someone at the station really was under the impression that there was a legitimate warrant out for his arrest. Regardless, Kelly is currently is not under arrest at this time. However, he is under criminal investigation in Georgia.

In addition to having financial issues and reportedly facing eviction from his studio in Chicago, the singer also was subject to a public statement from Lady Gaga denouncing their past collaboration amid the continued outpouring of sexual abuse allegations.

“As a victim of sexual assault myself, I made both the song and the video at a dark time in my life, my intention was to create something extremely defiant and provocative because I was angry and still hadn’t processed the trauma that had occurred in my own life,” Lady Gaga said in a statement on Thursday (Jan. 10). “The song is called ‘Do What U Want (With My Body),’ I think it’s clear how explicitly twisted my thinking was at the time.”

Additionally Gaga shared her plans to remove the song from streaming services and apologized to fans for “both for my poor judgment when I was young, and for not speaking out sooner.”
