After raising concern regarding her safety on Monday (Jan. 7), CupcakKe has now checked in with fans to say she’s doing okay and is getting the help she needs.

The Chicago native was hospitalized after alarming her fanbase and loved ones by sharing a suicidal tweet on her Twitter page earlier in the week. On Tuesday (Jan. 8), a day after authorities assured fans she had been accounted for and was safe, the rising rapper shared a message of her own to express her gratitude for the outpouring of support and to assure fans not to worry.

“I’ve been fighting with depression for the longest ..sorry that I did it public last night but I’m ok,” CupcakKe wrote on Twitter. “I went to the hospital & I’m finally getting the help that I need to get through, be happy, & deliver great music . Thanks for all the prayers, but please don’t worry bout me.”

On Monday night, after tweeting “I’m about to commit suicide,” thousands began responding with positive messages to hopefully uplift the rapper during this scary and difficult time.

Comedian and close friend Elijah Daniel helped provide an update with the rapper’s fanbase, revealing that Chicago police had checked in on her at her apartment and helped take her to a local area hospital for a “mental evaluation.” Thankfully, she did not have any physical injuries that needed to be treated.

The rapper was previously slated to tour and perform alongside Iggy Azalea in 2018. While the tour was unfortunately canceled last year, Azalea has remained supportive, offering caring words on Twitter following the scare.

“Sending love to @CupcakKe_rapper,” Azalea wrote on Twitter. “I understand how hopeless and overwhelmed with negativity we can sometimes feel. I hope you’ll take some time with those that really know YOU best; then when you’re ready come back stronger than ever!”
