Meek Mill donates $100K worth of gifts at holiday toy drive

Since his release from prison earlier this year, Meek Mill has tirelessly worked to fight for prison reform, establishing himself as an important voice shedding a light on systemic issues impacting millions across the country. However, his philanthropic spirit is not exclusive to his nationwide activism efforts with Meek choosing to, once again, give back to his community in Philadelphia this holiday season.

The Championships rapper and his nonprofit organization DreamChasers spent Christmas Eve (Dec. 24) hosting a toy giveaway and donating presents to more than 3,000 children in the Philadelphia area. The event, which took place at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Recreation Center, marked a charitable collaboration between DreamChasers, Puma, GoPuff and Roc Nation.

According to reports, the donated toys included video game consoles, 500 bicycles and helmets, 400 pairs of sneakers, art sets, superhero figures, board games and other assorted goodies. Per Meek, the donations totaled $100,000.

One boy who attended the holiday toy drive caught the attention of Meek Mill after the rapper learned the boy was robbed of his Xbox after leaving the raffle. Thankfully, Meek stepped in to replace the stolen console and cheer up the young fan.

“They robbed him for his X-box soon as he left when they could of came and got one for free…he good now tho,” Meek said, sharing a photo of the boy and explaining what happened on his Instagram story.

Later on during the event, Meek asked his 7-year-old son, Rahmeek, what he wants for Christmas. His son’s answer? To see his dad get married. Meek then played off his son putting him on the spot in front of the cameras, laughing that he doesn’t know who the lucky lady will be just yet and adding that he had never heard his son suggest such a wish like that before.
