Janet Jackson had a milestone year in 2018 – achieving one of the biggest moments of her career by being selected for induction into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame. However, it looks like while she’s fresh off an incredible career accomplishment, she’s now facing some legal troubles.
According to TMZ, Janet, along with her brother Randy Jackson, is being used by her former tour manager Danny O’Donovan for $300,000.
In documents obtained by TMZ, it was reported that he was hired in July 2016 to be the tour manager for the “State of the World Tour.” You may remember that the legend returned to music in 2015 with her album Unbreakable, which was met with rave reviews and critical acclaim. Shortly after its release, after overcoming a few challenges, the international star embarked on her tour in support of her album. Following a delay in the original scheduling, Janet then told the world that the 2016 outing would be postponed due to her pregnancy. The tour resumed in 2017 and was one of the most popular of the year.
The court documents share that the Jacksons agreed to pay O’Donovan $25,000 per month to manage the tour and he ended up working for 17 months. However, O’Donovan says that he was paid for the first five months and is still waiting payment for the remaining twelve months, a total of $300,000.
TMZ reps have reached out to Janet and her brother for further comments. However, there’s been no response, as of yet.
As announced last week, the iconic pop singer joins the 2019 class of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame alongside of The Cure, Def Leppard, Stevie Nicks, Radiohead, Roxy Music and The Zombies. The 34th annual ceremony is slated to take place on March 29, 2019 and will be held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
