Kodak Black is in the middle of a press run promoting his sophomore album, Dying to Live, which is out today (Dec. 14). However, what the Florida rapper is learning firsthand that while he is facing accusations of sexual assault, the topic simply cannot be avoided.

During an appearance on “The Breakfast Club”, the 21-year-old donned a ski mask and discussed a variety of topics, including the abruptly ended interview that took place earlier in the week on Hot 97.

While his ongoing legal issues weren’t the primary focus of his latest interview — as the rapper touched on his new album and his decision to move to California — co-hosts DJ Envy, Charlamagne Tha God and Angela Yee began to address what happened during his appearance on “Ebro in the Morning.”

“Listen, I knew y’all were going to bring that shit up,” Kodak said. “I would’ve curved that s—t and say, ‘F—k that. Ion wanna talk about that f—k n—a’, but at the same time, this is an interview. That s—t was going so good. I feel like people don’t want to see this happy-go-lucky Kodak just vibin’ and coolin’ and s—t.”

He, then, focuses on what it felt like when host Ebro Darden brought up the fact that while the case is ongoing—Kodak is set to head to trial in April 2019—the topic of sexual assault is taken seriously and he hopes the pair can talk about it in the future. As a result of the host’s commentary, Kodak decided to cut the interview short and leave the station. The interview soon went viral on Twitter with fans weighing in with an onslaught of divisive reactions.

“The interview was about to end so good and shit, but he was like, ‘Nah I wanna see him react, you know what I’m talking about?” Kodak continued, reflecting on “The Breakfast Club”. “I want him to spit in my face or tear this whole radio statin apart, you feel me? I felt like that, but at the same time, I’m over here sitting down with all these people talking money and stuff like that. If I would’ve showed out and s—t, I would’ve scared my money away again.”

In February 2016, Kodak Black was accused of sexually assaulting a woman in a South Carolina hotel. If Kodak Black is found guilty of the charges, he could be sentenced to 30 years in prison.
