Earlier this week, photos surfaced of a person with Travis Scott‘s likeness “cheating” on Kylie Jenner with an unidentified woman. The Astroworld rapper addressed the situation on his Instagram story, rebuking the rumors to be false.

“Trolls always wanna create some fake s—t to destroy real love,” Scott posted. “GOING OVER BOARD TO MAKE S—T LOOK LIKE IS NOT IS EVIL. I hate acknowledging s—t. But quit try to take joy from s—t that’s good. I pray god block out all evil. BACK TO CELEBRATING!”

After the photos garnered countless headlines and social media views, it was revealed that the whole thing was a hoax with its creator explaining his goal was to “fool the internet.” YouTuber Christian Adam admitted in a video posted Wednesday (Dec. 5) night the whole thing was staged, even releasing a lengthy video recapping what went down.

As a result, now even more people are talking with some finding the whole ordeal interesting while others, such as the involved parties, are absolutely disgusted at the lengths content creators will go to receive attention online.

“Idk if this is really a social experiment to some people but you’re messing with real people, real relationships, real family,” Jenner posted on her Instagram story. “I’m happy my relationship is strong because this is getting out of hand. The internet scares me sometimes for real.”

Jenner’s sister Kim Kardashian-West echoed the same sentiment.

“I hate that I am bringing attention to this but this is absolutely disgusting that you would find this funny to mess with Travis & Kylie who just started a family together,” Kardashian-West wrote on Twitter. “This is really damaging to relationships, families and is just so wrong!”

The photo’s creator also weighed in on the social media phenomenon, even asking Scott for forgiveness and expressing that he did not intend on harming the celebrity couple in any way.

“This is everywhere on Twitter, bro,” Adam can be heard saying in a 17-minute behind-the-scenes video. “I feel so bad sometimes. Damn, am I really messing up this n—a’s relationship? Now you all see how the world will believe something just because they want to believe it […] They don’t really care about the truth or doing the research, or anything like that. Travis Scott, if you’re watching this, forgive me, bro.”

Scott also weighed in on the fake news stunt by writing, “Shaking my f—king head.”

The fabricated cheating scandal was merely that and the couple, who welcomed their first child together earlier this year, are still going strong.
