While many were partaking in the annual festivities that surround the Halloween holiday, thousands others made space to reflect and honor the life and legacy of Mac Miller.

The rapper, who died in September of a suspected overdose, touched countless lives, many of which belong to the artist community. Wednesday evening (Oct. 31), over a dozen artists and former collaborators graced the stage of the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles to show love to the Pittsburgh native through an evening of dedicated live performances.

Chance the Rapper, Travis Scott, SZA, J.I.D, Ty Dolla $ign, Juicy J and John Mayer, among others, performed at the Mac Miller: A Celebration of Life tribute concert, while others who couldn’t attend in person, such as Donald Glover and 6lack, shared messages of gratitude and appreciation in the form of a pre-recorded video that aired during the event.

“Thank you, Mac, for sharing your beauty and your soul with us, especially your love of music,” Glover said during the montage of video clips. “You were a really necessary and intelligent light and I’m really glad that we met.”

DJ Jazzy Jeff was also among those included in the video, saying, “I want to thank you for the advice that you gave me. Giving me the perspective and insight on stuff that I wasn’t even paying attention to. That’s the impact that you had on the world.”

The benefit concert also doubled as the official launch of Circles, a foundation focusing on providing resources to the youth in underserved communities. Proceeds from the event went to the foundation, which will be maintained by Mac’s estate. Those interested in donating or learning more about the organization can do so via the official website.

After the performances concluded, with Travis Scott wrapping up the evening, a video clip of Mac was shown on stage, featuring him singing and playing the piano. While this goes without saying, the evening was as emotional as it was impactful. Mac Miller, you are missed.
