Ella Mai has plenty to be smiling about these days. After the 23-year-old’s breakthrough single “Boo’d Up” catapulted her into the Top 5 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart and landed her an opening slot on Bruno Mars’ ’24K Magic World’ tour, the London-born singer-songwriter set out to prove she is destined for longevity in the music industry.

After learning her debut self-titled album, released on Oct. 12, has officially debuted at the No. 5 slot on the Billboard Hot 200 albums chart this week, Ella Mai decided to celebrate the news by sharing her forthcoming tour dates.

According to chart data, the album garnered 69,000 album equivalent units, with 17,000 accounting for pure sales. The project features contributions from John Legend, Chris Brown and H.E.R.

“17k in pure sales in this new streaming era for a debut album by a new artist is WILD!” she wrote on Twitter. “I can’t thank you enough.”

After processing her Top 5 debut on the coveted chart, Ella confirmed she’ll be taking the critically acclaimed project on the road and is gearing up to hit 28 cities across North America in 2019.

Per the tour announcement, the trek will begin in Europe and the U.K. before kicking off on Feb. 12 in Vancouver, B.C. The headlining tour run will hit major cities across the U.S. and Canada, including Oakland, Portland, Las Vegas, Boston, Toronto, New York City and more. The tour will conclude in San Antonio on March 28. For those interested in attending, tickets for the tour go on sale this Friday on Oct. 26.

Recently, Ella Mai shared some insight into her love for R&B with Billboard, explaining how the genre, in her mind, is far from dead.

“I think a lot of people thought R&B is dead, which I don’t understand how anyone could think that,” she shared with the publication. “In my opinion, it’s the best genre in the world. Music is personal preference, but R&B definitely tackles love the way it happens. There’s no beating around the bush with R&B.”
