ScHoolboy Q is taking control of his album release date, but unfortunately, the circumstances regarding the change further put into perspective how the passing of Mac Miller has been deeply affecting both those close to him and the masses at large.

During a recent concert appearance, the TDE artist addressed the crowd, explaining his decision to push back the release date of his forthcoming fifth album because proceeding as per the intended schedule wasn’t sitting right with him.

“I just don’t feel right putting out an album,” he shared on stage, as first recounted by XXL. “I shouldn’t even be here right now but, like I said, my n—a Mac would not want me in the house sad. He would clown me for some weird shit. So like I said, I’m here today ’cause no way he would allow me to sit in the house and be a little bitch. I’m not gon’ be a little bitch. I’ma come out here.”

He then continued on, adding the promise that fans will be getting the album in due time (just not yet for the foreseeable future) and that he is going to work on figuring out when he feels he may be better suited to handle what would be an inevitable press run and being in the spotlight again after experiencing such a grave personal loss.

“I’m just not ready to walk in the radio station and the first thing they ask is ‘So Mac Miller…’ I’m not ready to deal with the questions they have,” he continued. “So right now, I’m not ready to put nothing out. I’m sorry.”

The rapper, who recently went out on tour with the TDE camp, has been sharing hints regarding the highly anticipated album for quite some time now, with the label’s CEO Top Dawg adding to the building speculation with an announcement that the roster has at least two more releases ready to go before 2019. While ScHoolboy Q’s album was the safest guess as to whose project would be released before the year is done, no details have since been confirmed.
