If you thought this week couldn’t have started on any more of a bizarre note following the recent events of your President’s Twitter fingers, think again. In the words of Drake, if you’re reading this, it’s too late. R. Kelly, who has been facing controversies for well over a decade, including sexual misconduct accusations with underage women and allegations of running a sex cult, recently shared a jarring 19-minute new song called “I Admit.” Contrary to its title, the record is more click bait than confessional. In fact, it appears he may have even taken a page out of O.J. Simpson’s PR playbook. Yes, Kelly addresses everything, and even admits to a few things as well, such as his long battle with illiteracy and his own bouts of molestation from a family member when he was a “child to the age of 14.” However, when it comes to the well-known headlines, Kelly pushes back and absolves himself of the blame. Instead of “I Admit,” he could have called this “I Plead the 5th.” For the moments the song’s title baits, read below:

On sexual allegations with younger women:

“I admit I fuck with all the ladies, that’s both older and young ladies / But tell me how they call it pedophile because that shit is crazy”

On reports of running a “sex cult”:

What’s the definition of a cult? Whats the definition of a sex slave? / Go to the dictionary, look it up / Let me know I’ll be here waiting

I admit I am not perfect / I never said I was perfect / Say I’m abusing these women / What the fuck, that’s some absurd shit / They brainwashed, really? / Kidnapped, really? / Can’t eat, really? / Real talk, that sounds silly

For the rest of the record, Kelly goes into detail about other situations, including his sex life, Spotify pulling his music from playlists as part of its Hate Content & Hateful Conduct policy, and the #MuteRKelly movement against him. If you’re wondering why the singer decided to make his first official public statement on the matters against him via a 19-minute song, do remember that his entire PR team dropped him three months ago. So as we put the blame on them, check out the the internet’s reaction to Kelly’s lengthy record below.
