French Montana is currently in Norway, celebrating alongside the likes of G-Eazy, Martin Garrix and Macklemore, all of whom were recruited to perform at the annual Landstreff Russ festival event.

During his set, the Jungle Rules rapper took a moment to pay tribute to acclaimed DJ and producer Avicii, who was found dead last month on April 20.

In the middle of his set, with a sea of mostly high school seniors in attendance, French began blasting the late DJ’s hit “Wake Me Up,” a tribute that was met with instant applause.

Taking to Instagram, the Moroccan-born New Yorker shared a recording of the special moment, writing, “YOU WAS SHINING THROUGH THESE DARK CLOUDS ON US !! @avicii WHAT A POWERFUL MORNING.”

Aviici, who died from an apparent suicide, was only 28 at the time of his tragic passing. Kygo, among a handful of other artists, have since been vocal about the influence that the Swedish EDM pioneer had on their own respective careers.
