As we circle back around for another Behind the Moment feature, we’re shedding light on illustrious photographer Nailah Howze, better known as Nai.

In 2015, she decided to pursue her creative talents in photography and has since racked up an impressive résumé of accolades in a short time. Most notably, Nai has shot for brands like Adidas for their “Impact” project campaign, was awarded Teen Vogue‘s “Photographer of the Week,” documented both the Bad Boy Reunion Tour in Oakland and the NAACP Awards, and was the 2017 winner of the Nook and Kranny “Photographer of the Year” award.

Inspired by her upbringing as a “military brat” and a Veteran herself, Nai brings a personal and human touch to her work that often reflects the beauty and honesty of the human experience. Its relatability has helped her become a distinguished contributor in her creative field.

This year, she plans on opening her own studio, venturing off into the lane of directing, going on tour and constantly learning and expanding her craft. Nai hopes to expand her business and team, and to be an inspiration for other women, women of color, and creatives, encouraging them to live authentically and pursue their dreams fearlessly.
