Back like they never left, Rae Sremmurd returns today with their latest offering, SR3MM. The third installment in the Sremmlife series, the new project is adventurous, to say the least. “The first triple disc hip-hop album ever,” according to Slim Jxmmi. The turn-up tandem’s special—comprised of the group effort SR3MM, Slim Jxmmi’s Jxmtro, and Swae Lee’s Swaecation—as well fatherhood and “Unforgettable” were discussed during the platinum duo’s recent sit-down with The Breakfast Club.

ON DROPPING A TRIPLE-ALBUM

Swae Lee: It’s just bigger. You got more chapters in one album. More songs. You get Jim’s individual side. You get my individual side. Then you got the group side. That’s why we did it too, because everybody be comparing us. So we were like, boom, let us let y’all compare us on this album. Y’all can compare us all y’all want.

ON TAKING A BREAK BEFORE SREMMLIFE 3

Swae Lee: We blessing the fans because we took a year off of cooking music. We didn’t drop no music for a whole year, and we weren’t really touring for almost a year because we had been touring for four years straight. We said, let’s take a break and finish this album. We had to feed these fans.

ON CHEATING

Slim Jxmmi: I think you have to be committed in order to cheat. You know what I’m saying? Like some of these girls be cuffing you, and you don’t even know….You’re suppose to treat every girl good. You’re not suppose to treat no girl bad. So I’m a nice guy. I’m friendly. You’re going to have a good time with me.

Swae Lee: My girls, they know who they is. They know how I fuck with them. They know our relationship. They know I treat them good. The woman that I’m focusing on see already what’s good with me. I’m going to treat her like a goddess. I’m a Black Beatle. My lifestyle crazy. They just got to know that. I ain’t out here just being a Mormon. I’m just out here living the Sremm lifestyle. Parties, traveling, all of that stuff is just included. It’s a packaged deal.

ON FATHERHOOD

Slim Jxmmi: You could be going down a bad road, then you have a kid and that could make you change the whole way you look at everything. For me, I like having a son. I just had my first son. I like having the responsibility. I be having a good time. He be waking up. I be up all night in the studio. When I be having him, I be changing his diaper and all that stuff.

Swae Lee: I ain’t ready to drop a seed. I got two monkeys I be taking care of. Them my babies right there. They look just like they daddy.

ON “UNFORGETTABLE”

I’m just in the music cooking-up process. I’m working every day. I’m making features, making plays everyday. With that song, long story short, I got a million of them. I make them everyday. I stay in the studio. We just worked that collab out. It just came out and it went big.

ON WHAT MIKE WILL SAYS ABOUT THEIR LIFESTYLES

Slim Jxmmi: Turn the fuck up

Swae Lee: He love it man. He says, ‘Y’all living the life. Y’all doing what y’all suppose to. Y’all young. Y’all suppose get all of the fruit.’
