Shawn Mendes and Khalid are holding tightly onto their youth, all while representing for their fans who, just like them, can’t legally consume alcohol yet.

The two have joined forces for a new acoustic anthem, “Youth,” which is set to appear on Mendes’ forthcoming self-titled third studio album.

The track, which was premiered by Zane Lowe on Apple Music’s Beats 1, was recorded in the wake of the Manchester Arena bombing, doubling as a heartfelt tribute to those who lost their lives during an Ariana Grande concert last summer.

“You can’t take my youth away / This soul of mine will never break / As long as I wake up today / You can’t take my youth away,” the pair collectively sings during the chorus of the optimistic ditty.

Of teaming up with the five-time Grammy nominee, Mendes shared, “I’ve known Khalid for about maybe a little over a year now. We just immediately hit it off. It’s just a really, really awesome friendship—like, talking all the time. When things first really started happening for him, we were always like, ‘We’ve gotta get together! We’ve gotta make music!’”
