After releasing his very revealing, nearly two-hour interview with Charlamagne tha God earlier today—in which the rapper discussed his family, the future of Yeezy, his relationship with JAY-Z, his feelings toward President Obama, and more—Kanye West visited TMZ today where he got even more candid about his drug addiction, cosmetic surgery, and slavery.

ON WHY HE WORE A ‘MAGA’ HAT: I felt a freedom [in] just doing something that everybody tells you not to do.

ON HIP-HOP’S HYPOCRITICAL REACTION TO TRUMP: I just love Trump. That’s my boy. So many rappers, you’ll look at a video of Snoop Dogg loving Trump, but then he gets into office, and now they don’t love him. Like, Trump is one of rap’s favorite people.

ON SLAVERY: For 400 years? That sound like a choice. Like, you was there for 400 years and it’s all of y’all? It’s like we’re mentally imprisoned. I like the word “prison,” because “slavery” goes too direct to the idea of Blacks. It’s like Holocaust/Jews, slavery is blacks, so prison is something that unites Blacks and whites being one race, that we’re the human race.

ON HIS DRUG ADDICTION AND ITS EFFECTS: Two days before I was in the hospital, I was on opioids. I was addicted to opioids. I had plastic surgery ’cause I was tryna look good for y’all. I got liposuction because I didn’t want y’all to call me fat like y’all called Rob [Kardashian] at the wedding and make him fly home before me and Kim got married. I didn’t want y’all to call me fat, so I got liposuction. And they gave me opioids and I started taking two of them and then driving to work on the opioids…And I’d always ask my boy…so he had to go get me the opioids and there was talk amongst my camp like, ‘Ye’s popping pills,’ so when he handed it to me, he said, ‘You know this is used to kill genius,’ so I didn’t take it. Two days later, I’m in a hospital. I was taking two pills a day at that time. When I left the hospital, how many pills you think I was given? Seven. I went from taking two pills to taking seven. So the reason why I dropped those tweets and everything, because I was drugged the fuck out, bro. And I’m not drugged out. These pills that they want me to take three of a day? I take one a week, maybe, two a week. Y’all had me scared of myself, of my vision, so I took some pills so I wouldn’t go to a hospital and prove everyone right. We are drugged out. We are following other people’s opinions. We are controlled by the media and today it all changes.
