After relaunching its signature program, Total Request Live, this past year, MTV is trying its hand at revamping yet another flagship series.

As announced Wednesday (April 18), Yo! MTV Raps will be making its highly anticipated return this year. While the details are still developing, the network did share that the program will be revamped as a “linear and digital series.”

Additionally, the reboot will be kicked off by a concert in celebration of the program’s 30th anniversary, set to take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on June 1. The line-up will include an array of the show’s alumni and respective rap legends such as Dr. Dre, Eric B. & Rakim, Flavor Flav, Doug E. Fresh, KRS-One, Kid Capri, Pharcyde, Kid Capri, Big Daddy Kane and more. Not only that but the show’s original hosts Fab 5 Freddy, Ed Lover and Doctor Dré will also be in the building. Tickets for the event go on sale this Friday (April 20) and can be purchased online here.

As the older generation of hip-hop fans can recall, the two-hour broadcast aired from 1988 to 1995, as well as made a brief broadcast in 2011, playing an instrumental role in helping hip-hop secure its permanent place in mainstream and popular culture.
