Princess Nokia has been steadily winning over new fans since the release of her 2016 debut project, 1992.

The New York native today (April 13) has expanded her catalog, setting free her latest mixtape, A Girl Cried Red.

The project, which is already seeing an overwhelming positive response on social media, has been self-declared an “emo mixtape,” a title that unapologetically reminds fans that not only has she found her lane in music but she is continuing to own it.

The new mixtape spans 8 tracks, drawing influence from the music that molded her, citing artists such as Paramore and Elliott Smith as inspiration.

In addition to delivering the project, days after spontaneously and strategically announcing its existence, Nokia has also shared a visual for the track “Your Eyes Are Bleeding.” The video features footage from the past two years of touring her debut and continuing her emergence as one of the most refreshing and captivating voices in alternative/experimental hip-hop.

Take a listen to Princess Nokia’s A Girl Cried Red, below, and be sure to keep an eye out for her this weekend as she is slated to perform at Coachella.
