Meek Mill, who is still incarcerated after being sentenced to two-to-four years for a probation violation this past November, has had a handful of high-profile visits this week.

On Tuesday (April 10), New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft and Philadelphia 76ers co-owner Michael Rubin met with the Philadelphia rapper, with both sharing their support and advocating both for his release and for criminal justice reform. Then, earlier today (April 11), Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney paid the rapper a visit, with reports sharing that the mayor came to the prison at the personal request of Rubin.

The mayor’s spokeswoman Ajeenah Amir confirmed the meeting, which took place for about an hour, sharing a statement with NBC10, “The mayor, like Mike, believes that Robert would better serve the community outside of prison, and that his case makes clear and urgent the desperate need to continue working with our partners to reform our criminal justice system.”

With this latest public position, Kenney joins Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner and Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf. All three have since come forward on Meek’s behalf, advocating in support of his being released on bail and his conviction reversed.

Recently, after Judge Genece Brinkley declared she would not be stepping down from the case, the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office filed a motion to the state’s Supreme Court, reiterating that it does not oppose the rapper being released on bail at the higher court level.
