As we circle back around for another edition of Behind the Moment, we’re teaming up with notable West Coast photographer Porterhouse LA. Not only has he worked with some of your favorite artists across the musical plane, but he’s also in the trenches with the hottest up-and-comers, at wedding venues for breathtaking matrimonies, and in photo-studios rockin’ portraits for album covers, book covers and prints for magazines.

Zyaire Porter, better known by his handle Porterhouse LA, has used his talent to create art that is not only aesthetically pleasing to the eye, but also as a tool to go back in time and relive some great milestones.

Zyaire has photographed a number of notable names, including Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Jhene Aiko, and Sean “Diddy” Combs, to name a few. He has also been the mastermind behind the lens for a range of musical shows and events, like Power 106’s Powerhouse concert, the Bad Boy Family Reunion Tour, Guerilla Union’s Rock the Bells, and All Def Digital Comedy Live.

In 2013, Porterhouse LA released their first book, Artists & Athletes, which is a photographic compilation of the various sports figures and musical artists Porter has captured over the years. In 2015, he went outside of the box, and turned his scenic photographs of Los Angeles into a coloring book called Hometown Tourist, complete with a set of crayons, leaving it up to the consumer to add life to his images. And just this year, Porterhouse LA began The Double Exposure Podcast : Both Sides of Photography.

With his drive and ability to take an idea and form it into a reality, Zyaire wants to leave a legacy of great photographs that tells the story of the current time. Whether it be artists, sports, or events, he wants to capture it all, so he can “live” throughout the next generation.
