Last month, Meek Mill’s lawyers filed a motion in Philadelphia Supreme Court asking for the imprisoned MC’s immediate release and for his judge, Genece Brinkley, to be recused from the case.

Today, according to the New York Daily News, Brinkley issued a decision declaring that she would not be stepping down from the case, nor ganting his bail despite support for his release from both Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf and the Philadelphia District Attorney’s office. She said she believed Meek’s prison sentence of two-to-four years was “absolutely necessary.”

Brinkley also denied the allegations of her bias, colluding, and unprofessionalism as Meek’s legal team has previously accused of her extortion and believe she, for reasons unknown, continued to advise Meek to fire his Roc Nation management in favor of his former manager Charlie Mack.

There is also the bizarre rumor that she wanted Meek to remake a Boyz II Men song and use her name in it. (A transcript of court documents could not refute these allegations.)

Of the rumored song request, Brinkley said, “This bald allegation has no basis in reality. There is zero evidence to support this claim. The court has repeatedly told Defendant that he cannot demand special treatment just because he has chosen to be an entertainer.”

Joe Tacopina, Meek’s lawyer, told XXL that the decision confirmed Brinkley’s bias, saying, “This ruling from Judge Genece Brinkley simply reaffirms the fact she has turned Meek Mill’s case into a personal vendetta. In spite of the recommendations from the Philadelphia District Attorney’s office, which was supported by Governor Tom Wolf, the judge continues to stand alone in supporting Officer Reginald Graham’s perjured testimony as well as his criminal behavior that has been documented. Fortunately, we have already filed petitions with the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to secure his release and we remain hopeful that the Court will right this injustice very soon.”
