Grungy Gentleman is more than just a fashion line. It’s a New-York based men’s lifestyle brand that incorporates design and digital media into one, proving it can all work at the same time.

Founded by influencer Jace Lipstein in 2011, what started as a blog has transformed into a full-service lifestyle brand — with services including styling, art direction and consulting for brands such as Cole Haan and Anthony Brands. What stands Grungy Gentleman apart is the ability for founder Lipstein to incorporate his perspective of menswear into digital media and fashion.

In an interview with Guest of a Guest magazine, Lipstein talked about what he wants his customers to experience while shopping at his line.

“We don’t try to stifle men—it’s just subtle upgrades, like top coats and blazers and bomber jackets—easy stuff that guys can approach and not be afraid to say, ‘I can wear this right away.’ It’s very buy-now. And we try to reinvent classics, and what I mean by that is that we took all the snaps and buttons off a safari jacket and made it very clean—we did a hidden zipper, and then we added ribbing on the wrists to give it a youthful element. We try to reimagine a lot of heralded pieces in menswear.”

As far as his future goals for the brand…

“We definitely want to open our own brick and mortar in the next year or so. That would be amazing. I think a nice hands-on experience with our clothes would definitely appeal to our customers. The challenging part is to make sure that the experience is conducive to the Grungy Gentleman lifestyle because when a customer walks into our store, I want them to feel immersed in the lifestyle. I don’t settle for just a couple of pictures on the wall—that’s not going to cut it. We’re going to really create an experience that they enjoy and want to come back to and feel a part of because that’s important. We have a saying at Grungy Gentleman, the home team, and hopefully, we can support other people, and they can support us and feel a part of that.”

Along with continuing to serve as Editor-in-Chief to Grungy Gentleman.com, Jace has also co-designed numerous clothing collaborations including HSTRY with rapper NAS and has debuted his fashion line at many runway and fashion shows.

Jace and Grungy Gentleman’s work has been featured in Esquire, Men’s Health, ESPN The Magazine, Hypebeast, Vibe and more. Some of the athlete clientele include Dwyane Wade, Chris Paul, Colin Kaepernick and Cam Newton; musicians such as NAS and Trey Songz; and actors such as Bryan Greenberg and Leonardo DiCaprio.
