On Saturday (March 23), hundreds of thousands took to the streets in support of the worldwide March for Our Lives rally.

At the gathering in Washington D.C. a handful of artists participated in the march, lending their talents and utilizing their platforms to help amplify the rally’s anti-gun violence messages.

Throughout the afternoon protest, Common, Andra Day, Jennifer Hudson, Vic Mensa, Ariana Grande and Miley Cyrus, among others, each performed, as well as addressed those in attendance with brief commentary explaining why this march is important to them and to the nation alike.

Students from Parkland, who played an integral role in organizing the rallies, took to the podium to give emotional and powerful speeches. Even Martin Luther King Jr.’s granddaughter Yolanda Renee King shared some words, delivering one of the most memorable speeches of the day.

With other 800 sister rallies taking place across the country and overseas, the anti-gun violence movement certainly got the world to listen today, even if only for one historic afternoon.
