SZA’s debut album Ctrl is still universally applauded despite being criminally underrated by the Grammys earlier this year. Luckily for us, it doesn’t seem like the snubs are slowing the singer down—not right now, at least.

She recently told Flaunt in a new cover interview that the losses could have been a blessing in disguise, saying:

“God didn’t give me the Grammys, because he knows I would have quit, like ‘I have nothing else to do.’”

Not allowing the moment to define her, she admitted that she’s already in the beginning stages of her sophomore effort:

“I’ve been talking shit to myself on different topics every day for the last week, which is typically how I start—coming up with little catchphrases in the car on the way home, and I’ll be like, ‘Cute.’ Then I’ll be like, ‘I think I’m ready to write and start recording.’”

Unfortunately for us, however, SZA’s already eyeing the end of what sounds like her bittersweet success:

“I’m still miserable. My world got so much smaller so fast. I have so much to write about. I feel like I’m in a cage. I’m making the best album of my life for this next album and I know that… because it’s going to be my last album.”
