Stream: Snoop Dogg releases his first-ever foray into Gospel, ‘Bible of Love’

  /  03.17.2018

Snoop Dogg is no stranger to reinventing his sound, and then reinventing it again.

The West Coast legend did exactly that with his latest release (March 16), trying his hand at Gospel with Snoop Dogg Presents Bible of Live.

The project, which spans 32 tracks in total and feels more like a curated collection that a regular studio album, features a wide array of guests, including Charlie Wilson, Faith Evans, K-Ci, Kim Burrell, The Clark Sisters, Adz Dillinger, Patti LaBelle and more.

Snoop previously announced the project earlier this year, explaining that trying his hand at Gospel has been on his mind and in his heart for too long.

During a recent sit-down with The Grio, the Long Beach native revealed his mother wasn’t impressed with the album or his risk-taking to change genres again because she, too, knew it was a long time coming.

“After my mama heard the record she turned around and looked at me and said, ‘I’m not impressed. God told me you were going to do this a long time ago. You have been doing your thing and now you’re doing His thing,’” he shared with the publication.

He also explains that he doesn’t care about criticism that may come now that the project has been released into the wild.

“I really didn’t care about the criticism because I’m doing this for spiritual reasons,” Snoop adds. “This is not a money-making project, it’s a spirit-making project so my spirit is in the right place.”
