Chance the Rapper and Childish Gambino have been teasing collaborative music for awhile now. Back in July, Chano said during an Instagram Live session that he “and Donald Glover have more songs together.” And in September, fresh off his two wins at the Emmys, Glover told the press, “I feel like if I don’t make a Chance the Rapper mixtape, like a double mixtape, a bunch of 14-year-olds will kick my ass.”
Now Chance is fanning the rumor’s flames again. Speaking to Adrienne Samuels Gibbs last night (March 5) at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago for Pitchfork‘s ‘In Sight Out’ interview series, the rapper detailed his recent work with both Gambino and Kanye West.
On collaborating with Childish Gambino: We perpetuated that rumor for a long time without recording anything (laughs)… We did link up in Atlanta and record some tracks and… they’re amazing.
On if he’s working with Kanye West: Uhhhhhhhh…. I guess!
On the creative insight he’s received from West: He showed me how to multitask and use the studio for more than making music… he’ll rent out a whole studio and fill it up with different projects. There was a whole room full of people on laptops—I don’t know what they were doing. I met one lady who worked on The LEGO Movie and she was talking to, get this, a magician. They were talking about how to make Kanye disappear during a show.
