Common kept one of his traditions running strong this year, hosting his fourth annual “Toast To The Arts: A Celebration of Fearless Art” event on Friday (March 2). This year’s star-studded soirée took place at West Hollywood’s Ysabel and featured an intimate garden-set dinner under the stars.

The event was organized by the Oscar winner and recording artist himself to honor a selection of this year’s Academy Award nominees, including Get Out’s Daniel Kaluuya (Best Actor) and Mudbound nominees Mary J. Blige (Best Supporting Actress, Best Original Song), director Dee Rees (Best Writing Adapted Screenplay) and producer Charles D. King; as well as to celebrate the achievements of legendary filmmaker Charles Burnett.

A handful of Hollywood’s finest and brightest came out to support, with Tiffany Haddish, Gabrielle Union, Andra Day, Ray Lewis, Dahntay Jones, Amanda Seales, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Lil Rel Howery, #MeToo founder Tarana Burke and more all in the building to celebrate.

As host, it was only fitting that Common lead a special toast, with guests raising their Remy Martin-filled glasses to honor Mudbound director Dee Rees, who became the first Black woman to be nominated in the adapted screenplay category.

Additionally, the Ayars Agency and MVD Inc. curated the evening, with partners of the event also including Color of Change, Shea Moisture and Planned Parenthood.

The 2018 Oscar Awards are set to air on ABC this Sunday, March 4, with the red carpet beginning at 6:30pm ET and the ceremony itself at 8pm ET.
