There’s nobody in rap more polarizing than 6ix9ine right now. You’ve seen him having brawls in the streets with instigating haters (probably), but you also can’t deny that his fanbase is growing and helping make him one of the hottest in the game.
Earlier this month, his single “Kooda” went gold. As did “Gummo” this month. And he has another single, “Keke,” buzzing in the streets, bubbling in the clubs, and getting YouTube views by the tens of millions. Now he feels that he can really show and prove.
Today, 6ix9ine drops his first-ever project Day69, and he believes this effort is going to appeal to all his followers.
“The tape has two different sounds,” he told REVOLT TV while at its New York studios. “All combined one sound, but two different sounds. For my core and for my new listeners. The people that gonna really appreciate it are the people who been rocking with me since day one. My day one fans from 2015. I didn’t forget about no one.”
Day69 stays in line with the anxious anthems 6ix is known for. The energy is mostly turbulent fight music, with the Brooklyn rapper usually going at it alone. 6ix originally wanted to make a feature-free project, but acquiesced to the request of fans who reached out on social media. Offset appears on the “Gummo” remix while Fetty Wap and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie appears on the aforementioned “KeKe.” The obstreperous vibe is turned down just a little on “Rondo” which features Young Thug and Tory Lanez. Teka$hi and Lanez recently previewed the record by showing footage of themselves together in the studio.
“Tory is a great person,” he described. “Tory is a beautiful soul. Very good energy. Talented as fuck. He goes in the booth and do what he do.”
