Janelle Monáe is not only making a comeback but is doing so with a bang, arriving today (Feb. 16) in the form of an action-packed trailer. As announced, the dynamic and multitalented recording artist has confirmed that she has a new album in the works, to be titled Dirty Computer.
As exemplified in the 30-second short accompanying the exciting news, Monáe’s new project will address a variety of themes, with the trailer weaving together scenes showcasing elements of dystopian Afro-Futurism, intense love, identity and self-expression, with plenty of action (and incredible fashion) thrown in the mix.
The album will be Monáe’s fourth entry in her catalog, as well as marks her first project in five years, following up 2013’s The Electric Lady. As exemplified in the trailer, the 32-year-old is referring to her latest work as “an emotion picture.”
Additionally, the engaging trailer, which features Tessa Thompson, will air in select theaters prior to the screening of Black Panther, which debuted in theaters this week.
