Meek Mill and his team of lawyers have a little (big) victory to celebrate this Friday.

As reported, the currently incarcerated rapper has been granted an appeal hearing, which is set to take place in April.

The exciting development arrives following reports that his lawyers filed the necessary paperwork for a Post-Conviction Relief Act, with the court taking into consideration that recently surfaced reports outlining examples of alleged police corruption.

As previously reported, police officer Reginald Graham, the same officer who arrested Meek back in 2007, has been listed on a private list outing corrupt cops. Another former police officer, Jerold Gibson, has also shared a sworn affidavit during which he claims Graham lied about a massive detail in his initial report and that Meek never pointed a gun at anyone during the time of his arrest, nor did he have drugs on him.

His head lawyer, Joe Tacopina, has spoken with Billboard in light of the recent development, exclaiming that he hopes to have Meek home on bail as soon as possible.

“It’s mind-blowing, but it’s also just par for the course in this case,” Tacopina shared with Billboard. “You had a case where a judge gives a guy two to four years when the District Attorney and the probation officer [recommended] zero. In a case when the judge asked Meek to redo a Boyz II Men song and use her name in it… I mean it’s just par for the friggin’ course. It really is for this case. It’s over the top. It’s insane.”

Tacopina and his team has been hard at work to either get the original charges withdrawn or dismissed, or call for a new trial entirely.

“It’s outrageous what they’ve done to him,” he added. “This system has defecated on Meek Mill. I don’t know how and I don’t know exactly when, but I know this travesty of justice will be righted. I know this travesty will be corrected because it can’t stand in the face of all of these outrageous facts that show that Meek Mill is sitting in jail illegally, improperly, and immorally.”
