K+Lab has released a newly remixed version of his 2016 album, The Worldly’s. Coming out of New Zealand and now currently living in Vancouver, he’s been regarded as one of the top funk glitch-hop artists today, and while reworked albums can tend to depreciate the original, The Worldly’s Remixed enriches and furthers the best elements of the initial effort.
As with most remix albums, there are a slew of collaborators and producers who have contributed. Fellow Lowtemp Records artist Beat Fatigue delivers bluesy opening track “Mothership ReEntry” with Alias and The Mic Smith. Stickybuds flipped the G-Funk banger “Pull Up” featuring Melodownz and Mustafa Akbar. And the album also features Denver’s Alex Medellin, Melbourne-based Cheshire, and Canadian artist Pigeon Hole.
The album contains a worldly (see what I did there?), diverse mix of producers for a unique twist on the original album that definitely gives it a big boost and, most of all, keeps it funky.
