Meek Mill and his legal team are continuing to pursue every avenue possible to get his sentencing overturned.

Following reports that his attorney Joe Tacopina was preparing to file new paperwork with the higher courts this week, a new development has emerged that could possibly see the release of both Meek and other inmates alike due to reports of police corruption surfacing.

As reported by the Philadelphia Inquirer, last year, the District Attorney’s Office privately compiled a confidential list comprised of members of law enforcement who had a “history of lying, racial bias or brutality, in a move to black them testifying in court.”

As it turns out, while an official list has not been released to the public, a source close to the situation confirms that the cop who arrested Meek in 2007, Reginald V. Graham, was included, with another ex-narcotics officer claiming they used to steal together.

Essentially, with this new information coming to light, Meek’s attorney can possibly leverage the alleged police corruption to their advantage.

“Across the justice system, there are many instances of people that are incarcerated being subsequently let out when police corruption is uncovered,” Tacopina shared in a statement to Complex. “This would certainly be one of those instances. I mean, there were 800 cases that were dismissed or overturned upon discovery of this group of officers who had been committing crimes, lying about circumstances of arrests, and falsifying documents. One of the officers is the same one who not only arrested Meek, but made allegations that Meek has always denied. This is the only one that testified against Meek.”

Additionally, Meek has been briefed on the latest development, responding that the news comes as “no surprise.”
