Borrowing from Schoolly D’s 1985 classic “P.S.K. What Does It Mean?” (which was famously sampled by Case for “Touch Me Tease Me” and the Notorious B.I.G. for “B.I.G. Interlude”), King Combs delivers a midtempo groove on his latest single, “Love You Better,” co-produced by his very own father Sean “Diddy” Combs. Joined by Chris Brown, who takes the reins on the chorus, the men wonder what they can do to get their lost love back.

“Know I need you by my side, can’t lose that / But you still wanna test the waters / Like I never showed you jets and waters on the coast of Florida / So why you wanna act like that? / Like the nigga never had your back / His and hers to match / What’s wrong, girl? Pick up the phone / Sayin’ you ‘not home, nigga leave me alone’ / But fuck it then, that’s my word I’ll never love again / Same time wanting you back, I’m a sucker then.”

We spoke to King Combs about how the collaboration came about. “I played my mixtape for [Chris] and he just loved the vibe I was on,” Combs said. “The nostalgic vibe, the hip-hop mixed with R&B, [and] felt like it was just organic, what we could create together. So he just told me, I didn’t even ask him, he was like, ‘Yo, I need to hope on this, bro, let me get this.’”
