The people have spoken and FOX has listened! As reported, the music competition series The Four: Battle for Stardom has been officially renewed for a second season, with the exciting news arriving hours before Thursday’s finale of the debut season (Feb. 8).
As reported by Deadline, the fast-paced and electrifying show is FOX’s most-watched new unscripted series in nearly four years among viewers in the 18-49 age demo and total viewers. The highly anticipated finale crowned the first winner of the show, with contestants Zhavia, Candice Boyd, Evvie McKinney and Vincint Cannady each squaring off to be named iHeartRadio’s “On The Verge” artist and awarded a recording contract.
For those just tuning in, the premise of the new competition series, hosted by Fergie, features four vocalists showing off their talents and star potential to celebrity judges Sean “Diddy” Combs, DJ Khaled and Meghan Trainor, with contestants competing to be one of the four able to advance in the competition. While past episodes have featured live audience participation on who deserves a coveted seat to still be in the running, the season finale winner will be selected by the three judges after what is promised to be a passionate and heated deliberation.
“The Four is truly a next-generation show,” said FOX Broadcasting Company president Rob Wade shared in a statement. “It has pushed past the boundaries of traditional music competition series by focusing on recording artists in an epic battle to become a superstar. And for the winner, guided by music giants Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, DJ Khaled, Meghan Trainor, and Republic Records, this is just the beginning. We’d like to thank our panel, our ringleader, Fergie, the contestants and our incredible production team for delivering concert-quality shows every week. And we look forward to pushing the boundaries even further in season two.”
The second season is set to premiere on the broadcast network this summer.
The finale of The Four: Battle for Stardom airs tonight (Thursday) on FOX at 8/7c.
