It seems like every year for DJ Khaled is a memorable one, but 2017 had more cloth talk than usual. The Miami hitmaker dropped his tenth studio album, reached new personal highs on the charts, running the summer with some of the season’s biggest records, enjoyed new business ventures, and welcomed a new member to his family. With such an accomplished year, it’s unsurprising that Khaled leads all 2018 Global Spin Awards nominees with a six nominations: DJ of the Year, Hip Hop DJ of the Year, DJ Album of the Year, DJ Producer of the Year, DJ Entrepreneur of the Year, and DJ Record Label of the Year. Below, see why Khaled has such a big night ahead at the Global Spin Awards, with a timeline of his biggest accomplishments of the year.

Feb. 9, 2017: Nevermind a tweet or a press release to make an announcement: DJ Khaled is larger than life, so a press conference fit for the stars was only right. Khaled, decked in a pink suit, put on a press conference at the Beverly Hills Hilton to announce his tenth studio album. Chance The Rapper and Sean “Diddy” Combs joined him to share the news: Grateful would be executive produced by his newborn son Asahd, and the record would be Khaled’s “best work ever.”

Feb. 17, 2017: Khaled jumpstarted the year by dropping the first single from his album Grateful after the conclusion of the Grammy Awards. The song: “Shining,” featuring Jay-Z and Beyonce in a grown, dance-ready number. “Shining” would end up peaking at no. 57 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

April 21, 2017: Khaled upped the ante of star power with “I’m The One,” a single that brought together Chance The Rapper, Justin Bieber, Lil Wayne, and Quavo for a fun, amusement park-hued single. The record made history for Khaled, becoming his first no. 1 record on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, along with also selling five times platinum in the United States.

June 23, 2017: DJ Khaled officially drops the album Grateful, as a joint release under his label We The Best Music and Epic Records. The album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 with 149,000 album equivalent units, and would eventually reach platinum status from the RIAA.

July 29, 2017: “Wild Thoughts,” the third single from Grateful, peaks at no. 2 on the US Billboard 200 and tops the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop charts. The song, which sees Rihanna and Bryson Tiller stunting over a reworked sample of Carlos Santana’s “Maria Maria,” was one of the most inescapable songs of the summer.

Aug. 23, 2017: After a longtime fear of flying, DJ Khaled gets onto a plane for the first time in ten years, with his son Asahd – and fly Supreme Louis Vutton luggage – helping him get through.

Nov. 17, 2017: DJ Khaled joins his friend Sean “Diddy” Combs as one of four judges on The Four: Battle to Stardom, a new music competition show that airs on FOX each Thursday at 8 p.m. The move continued aa year full of expanding his presence in Hollywood and the business world: he appeared in commercials for the film Spider-Man: Homecoming and Apple Music, and landed a cameo in the film Pitch Perfect 3, and even became a spokesman for TurboTax. All of that is along with his role as a brand spokesman for Ciroc, as he was the face of Ciroc Mango in 2016. And after the Global Spin Awards nominees were revealed, Khaled announced that he was an ambassador for Weight Watchers; the grind continues.
