There are only a dozen entertainers who have earned EGOT status upon winning an (E)mmy, (G)rammy, (O)scar and (T)ony Award. Among them are Whoopi Goldberg, Aubrey Hepburn and Rita Morena.

But Donald Glover, a.k.a. Childish Gambino, is half-way there following his Emmy wins late last year for Atlanta (Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series) and his Grammy win last night for “Redbone” (Best Traditional R&B Performance).

Unfortunately, while speaking to the press after the ceremony yesterday, he doubled down on his admission that he’d be retiring his musical persona.

He said, “I stand by that. I’m really appreciative of this. I’m making another project right now, but I like endings, I think they’re important to progress. I think if a lot of things had death clauses in them, we wouldn’t have a lot of problems in the world, to be honest. I think ending are good because they force things to get better.”

Speaking to VIBE, he also weighed in on his possible journey to becoming an EGOT winner, admitting that that is not his goal either.

He said, “It’s scary, it’s a lot of pressure to be hearing, ‘Now you have to get an Oscar.’ I [keep thinking], ‘That’s a lot of work.’ But I believe in expression so it would be cool, but it’s not what I’m aiming for. But if it happens, it happens.”
