And the Grammy for the night’s most illustrious performance goes to…

Kendrick Lamar received a powerful ovation tonight at the 60th annual Grammy Awards, and it’s quite fitting since he’s already the night’s biggest winner with four trophies, including Best Rap Album. Taking DAMN. to the stage, the Compton rapper ran through a medley of songs from the critically-acclaimed album, including the standout “XXX.,” which featured a guest appearance from U2, and “DNA.” Arresting. Exhilarating. Explosive. The set could best be defined in one word: DAMN.

In between songs, Dave Chappelle joined the stage and offered a telling anecdote. “The only thing more frightening than watching a black man being honest in America is a being a black man being honest in America,” he told the audience. The message sure resonated with K. Dot’s unabashed and fiery medley, and everyone on Twitter couldn’t help but agree.
