Hometown hero and this year’s Grammy favorite, JAY-Z is having one of the best weekends ever. The stuff of legend, Clive Davis’ Pre-Grammy Gala became another highlight for the Roc Nation honcho as he was presented during this year’s celebration with the Grammy Salute to Industry Icons award. His modern classic, 4:44, has him nominated for eight trophies tonight, including Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year.
And his own Roc Nation Pre-Grammy Brunch was also the talk of the town he runs.
The annual event, normally held in Los Angeles, took place in New York City for the first time. With a selective guest list in tact, the invite-only engagement consisted of a who’s-who in entertainment.
The Roc was definitely in the building for this weekend’s event. There was DJ Khaled, T.I., Angie Martinez, Fabolous, Yo Gotti, Van Jones, 9th Wonder, Casanova and Justine Skye. Members of hip-hop’s upper echelon including Puff Daddy, Andre Harrell, Kevin Liles and so many others pulled up dapperly clad.

CBS correspondent Gayle King, critically-acclaimed actress Susan Sarandon, Baz Luhrmann (who Jay worked with on the soundtrack to The Great Gatsby), and New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft were among the attendees captured chatting with the evening’s host.
The love was felt all throughout the air, starting with the Black Carpet arrivals. The likes of Rapsody, Steve Stoute, Monica, Remy Ma and David Banner spoke on their appreciation of the current advancements happening all across the spectrum in Black culture.
