Political commentator, author and activist Van Jones has a new show debuting on CNN at the end of the month, with the series set to open with quite the special guest.
As reported, none other than JAY-Z will be the first to sit down with the host, who promises their conversation will focus on their shared activism, as well as the themes found in Hov’s latest album, 4:44.
Per CNN, the show will air twice a month and will feature a mixture of political and cultural guests, as well as will highlight the voices of the American people from across the country.
“It’s very rare that someone becomes a household name on multiple continents and is still as cutting edge and as relevant as he is,” Jones said in a statement, reflecting on his upcoming sit-down with the legendary rapper and entrepreneur. “He’s really ground zero for so many conversations in the country right now: politics, culture, economics, technology. He’s not only a hip-hop legend but he also runs a major technology company, Tidal. He’s weighed in on social justice and criminal justice issues… he’s a real pioneer.”
In related JAY-Z news, he is also set to receive a special recognition award from GLAAD, the world’s largest LGBTQ media advocacy organization, for his track “Smile,” during which he reveals his mother Gloria’s homosexuality.
The Van Jones Show will make its debut on Saturday, January 27 at 7pm on CNN.
