Issa Rae has never shied away from admitting her Drake fandom and she’s definitely not about to start now.

Earlier this week, following the 2018 Golden Globe Awards, rumors began circulating that the Toronto rap star approached the Insecure creator, asking if she’d like to attend a Netflix after party he was DJing at. Per E! Online, she allegedly declined because she was “with all her friends,” telling him, “Thanks, but no thanks!”

Now that the story has been circulating online, Issa chose to come forward to set the record straight.

Taking to Twitter, she rewrote E!’s headline for them, writing what she feels is a more accurate description of the interaction.

“*Obsessed Fan Who Dedicated Entire Season to Artist Continues to Shamelessly Fangirl When She Sees Him at Party Later,” Issa tweeted.

Naturally, fans were quick to appreciate her on-brand reaction, cheering her on for her hilarious response.

Just as a reminder that the fandom is real, back in October 2016, Issa revealed during a Rolling Stone interview that she had placed an Easter Egg relating to one of Drake’s lyrics in every episode of her show.
