Last week, we discovered that Kendrick Lamar and Top Dawg label head Anthony Tiffith were producing and curating the soundtrack for the upcoming Black Panther film.
With that news came the first offering off the compilation: K. Dot and SZA’s “All the Stars.”
And now, in the movie’s just-released third anticipation-building trailer, fans get to hear a snippet of what appears to be another collaboration, this time between Kendrick and Vince Staples.
(The second trailer featured Staples’ “BagBak” and Gil Scott Heron’s “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised,” while the first boasted Run the Jewels’ “Legend Has It.”)
Over a thumping and threatening beat, K. Dot can be heard spitting: “All y’all want money, all y’all want from me / Y’all wanna die in the shade of things / We all gon’ die, embrace the thing.”
Staples emerges on the latter half, delivering: “They don’t wanna see me get into this shit / They just wanna see me swimming in it / Don’t drown, on ground, one to your head / 911, freeze.”
In addition to this big reveal, Lamar has also unveiled his second Cortez collaboration with Nike.
The rapper took to Instagram to show off the shoe, and while the first pair made use of a red-and-white colorway with the phrase “Don’t Trip” emblazoned down the laces, this new offering is mostly white with a thinly-drawn outline of his DAMN. album title on the side.
