Bruno Mars and Cardi B rock the new jack swing on "Finesse" remix
The 24k golden sound returns.
Bruno Mars recruits Cardi B and brings the new jack swing to 2018 all on the remix to “Finesse,” one of the many, many standouts on his critically-lauded album 24K Magic.
Breathing new life into the era and sound made famous by Teddy Riley, the singer reintroduces its enduring appeal with a special remix that tags in round-the-clock Billboard history-maker Cardi B, who delivers a solid appearance. Lucky for us, the remix is also accompanied by an In Living Color-styled visual, which is altogether fun, colorful, and full of life. Check it out below.
Speaking on this enduring appeal, Teddy Riley previously spoke to REVOLT about the timeless impact of New Jack Swing, calling it a sound that “dresses for the occasion.”
“When Bruno Mars and The Weeknd and all these guys come with their interpretation of New Jack Swing or funk — everybody has their own way. This music has no age. It’s classic.” As made clear with this throwback jam by Bruno and Cardi, the legacy continues.
For a history lesson on the golden era and in its enduring impact, check out what Teddy Riley, Keith Sweat, Andre Harrell and more had to say about the hit sound in “Groove Me: The story of New Jack Swing.”
