This past July, hip-hop had a heavy heart after learning of the tragic news that Fresh Kid Ice had passed away. At the time of initial reports, his manager said that Fresh Kid Ice, who was a founding member of Miami’s legendary 2 Live Crew, passed away due to a nondescript medical condition.

Months after his untimely passing, an official cause of death has since been revealed, with TMZ reporting that he died of cirrhosis of the liver, with additional factors contributing to the decline of his health as well.

As reported, other contributing factors included Hepatitis C and a history of alcohol, with TMZ adding the hip-hop pioneer suffered from acute respiratory failure and went into shock before losing the battle with his health.

Fresh Kid Ink was 53 at the time of his passing.
